Retaining structures are one of our primary specialities with solutions including – but not restricted to - crib and gabion retaining walls, reinforced earth structures, mini, CFA and driven piling, soil nailing and rock anchors.
Modern retaining structures can not only provide structural confidence – they can look good and can streamline other construction processes and cope with a variety of ground types and site requirements. Our solutions are expertly applied by our team and often dovetail with, other forms of ground stabilisation and piling services, maximising developable space with safety and long term reliability to the fore and include;
Retaining walls
Simple and traditional retaining systems intelligently applied to meet specific ground strata types, aesthetic requirements and a range of loads, stresses and forces, with techniques including gravity walls, cantilevered retention and gabion meshes.

Soil Nailing
Installed as ground is excavated, soil nails are closely spaced steel bars grouted directly into slopes and cuttings then faced to create a reinforced earth wall section. Stable and self retaining they are a safe and progressive way to excavate top down when contiguous piles or other methods are expensive or won’t work for practical reasons

Rock Anchors
Ground anchors are created by drilling and grouting pre stressed tendons into rock faces then adding a face plate to restrain and retain the slope or wall surface. Capable of very heavy load bearing they are commonly used in major excavations such as tunnels or for retaining large faces such as an unstable cliff sides.

Contiguous Piles
A practical application which comes into its own when other buildings, structures or roads impinge or are very close to site boundaries. Normally a continuous flight auger will be used to install piles in existing ground, along a boundary, creating a retaining wall for temporary access or permanent excavation.

Reinforced Earth Slopes
Widely used when maintaining natural features or where landscaping is essential, we shape steel meshes or wrap around reinforcing elements into natural slope retaining forms which quickly disappear back into the landscape when vegetation takes hold.
