The full design and construction of modular block faced reinforced earth ramps forming part of the new elevated roadways and infrastructure works in Dover Docks for the Dover Docks Authority through main contractor Alfred McAlpine Civil Engineering Ltd.
The construction of reinforced earth walls progressed in sections and within tight time constraints where site traffic, pedestrian routes and public traffic contraflows dictated programme target completion dates within strict working methods.
Main contractor activities including structural steelwork beams, pre-cats parapets and associated bridge works impinged highly on our works. Effective communication during the course of the works and at regular meetings, forward planning and health and safety management were at the root of the success of this scheme.
