The longest tunnel project in the UK for the A3 dualling in Surrey also required numerous reinforced earth modular block retaining walls for new bridge abutments, culverts, tunnel services buildings and slope stability situations throughout the 8 mile extent of works on site. 

Geoforte constructed all such walls on this project over a three year period within a phased build programme for main contractor Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering Limited.

Numerous vists to site were required to build each wall at separate locations, under differing time, access, method and time constraints. 

A great deal of flexibility was required by Geoforte in order to properly resource, coordinate and manage the works particularly given the intensity of site geotechnical testing regime under high quality and health and safety standards.   

The result was that not only did we successfully build some 2500 sq.m of retaining structures on this project but, as a consequence we have also built a very good working relationship with the largest Civil Engineering contractor in the UK.
